BRITPOP – David Bowie Night

Three words: WE. ARE. BACK.

SATURDAY 27th MARCH sees us re-launching BRITPOP at the first of two venues for 2010. First up, THE GLADSTONE HOTEL*: It has all late-night lunacy of The Abercrombie Hotel mixed with the chilled, beer-supping vibe of The Clare Hotel. It has a cute and intimate courtyard for all you outdoor types and chimneys. $10 jugs (until 10pm) and the legendary “fishbowls” are the drinks of choice.

Kicking things off, JOHNNY DARKO will be slamming out 3 hours of David Bowie throughout the night for your partying/listening pleasure. He’ll be joined by DJs TOM LIBERTINE and ANDREW P STREET (both heavy on the 90s), MEDUSA and the best indie DJ in town EL MARIACHI. You’ll hear so much British awesomeness, you’ll want to emigrate.

And it’s STILL only $10.  Wam, bam, thank you ma’am.

Doors 7pm. FREE ENTRY before 8pm (for all you students and scotsmen).

REGULAR PLAYLIST: The Libertines, The Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Blur, David Bowie, The Cure, The Smiths, Kasabian, The Stone Roses, The Fratellis, The Arctic Monkeys, The Jam, Babyshambles, Supergrass, The Happy Mondays, The Buzzcocks, The Klaxons, The Cribs, The Rolling Stones, New Order, The Beatles, Joy Division, Gang Of Four, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, The Wombats, Pulp, Wire, Belle & Sebastian, British Sea Power, Prodigy…

NEW RELEASE PLAYLIST: The Big Pink, The Cribs, Two Door Cinema Club, Delphic, Florence & The Machine, Kasabian, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, The Courteeners etc.

* “Where the bleeding-’ell is The Gladstone Hotel?” Well, my learned friend, it’s a mere 2 mins walk from Central Station (along Regent St).
