With the In Mono box, Stereo Box and Rock Band being released today, 9th September 2009, it’s an historical day for Beatles fans. The quality of the remasters, especially on the In Mono box, would soften the heart of even the most ardent cynic.
As such, at Britpop we’re proclaiming September Beatles Month - follow us on Twitter for more Beatles posts than you can shake a stick at.
This will culminate in a HUGE Britpop Beatles Special on Saturday 3rd October at The Abercrombie Hotel! Details to follow.

Speech Debelle wins the Mercury Music Prize and the world yawns. She even wants to “work with Kings Of Leon” for fuck’s sake.
Were the judges on crack? They must’ve been to proclaim “Speech Therapy” better than The Horrors‘ “Primary Colours” and Glasvegas‘ eponymous debut. Just ludicrous.
Remember M-People?

It’s a familiar trajectory: record a bright, shimmering debut album and then follow-up with a darker and more introverted sophomore release. It’s a trajectory that The Maccabees seem happy to follow. Triple J are giving away their “No Kind Words” mp3 right here. It’s pretty good, but it ain’t no “Latchmere“.

Just when you thought that Johnny Rotten had retired to the quiet life of quiz show appearances and Country Life butter commercials…
…he announced to The Guardian that Public Image Limited will be reforming for a short, five-date tour (presumably in Europe). The catch is that neither Keith Levene nor Jah Wobble will be joining him.

Rumour has it that the new Cribs album “Ingore The Ignorant” is utter tosh. Even WITH Johnny Marr on board. The first single “Cheat On Me” does little to dispel said rumour:
