The Queen is dead, boys.

britpop_090606_poster1Right then. How is everyone? All good, I hope.

Saturday 6th June is the Queen’s Birthday (Gawd bless ‘er) and we all get a day off work on Monday. That’s genius in anyone’s book.

Britpop invites you to join Her Royal Highness in her celebrations by partying to over 90 minutes of timeless indie gems from the band that brought you “The Queen Is Dead”…yup it’s our 2nd annual Smiths special! Delicious irony? I think so.

Let’s face it, The Smiths are the greatest band of all time. No question.

DJs Johnny Darko and Mush will be bringing you the Morrissey/Marr action and all your British indie favourites come courtesy of two of the best indie DJs in the business: Faux Nun and El Mariachi. No egos, no pretense, just great tunes.

Expect to hear this tidy lot:

Pulp, Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Libertines, Kasabian, David Bowie, The Cure, Supergrass, Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, The Beatles, Stone Roses, Blur, Radiohead, Maximo Park, Foals, The Fratellis, The Wombats, Joy Division, Lily Allen, Buzzcocks, Depeche Mode etc….

…as well as 3 x 30 mins of The Smiths throughout the night.

FREE ENTRY for those with a valid student ID.

FREE ENTRY for all Sydney FC supporters card holders.

FREE ENTRY for EVERYONE before 10pm.

Otherwise, it’s still a total bargain at $10.

Happy hour 9pm- 11pm sees $3 champagnes and $10 jugs of Coopers. $10 teapots served all night.

We’re also delighted to be launching the super awesome new Maximo Park album, “Quicken The Heart” courtesy of the top blokes over at Warp/Inertia.

God save the Queen…and the fascist regime!
